first the comp specs
Asus p4c800e deluxe mb w 3.2 p4 chip
1gb ram
2 74gb raptors in raid 0 on intel sata raid controller (split into two partitions..c for the os and d for programs)
1-250mb hd on eide and 1-120gb hd on eide
dvd drive and dvd-rw drive

Here is my problem.
I downloaded the sp2 update and installed but it had a pop-up error and shutdown during the install. at boot up it goes all the way to the xp splash screen and then it will go and reboot, never getting to the log=on screen.
when i go through the bios screen it shows my raid partition as boot device 1
during the bootup after the bios screen it goes to the raid controller screen where it shows the raid as "active" and bootable yes.
I put in the win xp cd to do a repair and it finds no windos installation to fix.
i then went as far as installing xp on the 120gb hd and it went fine but in the manage drives on my comp it shows all drives BUT the raid drive.

I did do a "backup" of the c-os drive and did a install of the backup on the 120 drive but all my mp3's and pics are nowhere and i had like 30gb of that stuff. also as a dope i forgot and i do not have a backup of the d drive. I have not uninstalled the raid drive or installed anything to that drive to hope to save the data. Can anyone help out?
I live in the st. louis area and would be willing to pay if someone could help out.
Thanks

MAybe need to hit the key to allow installation of raid drivers when booting off the XP CD?

It's probably not able to see the raid during the repair part unless you do that.

check intels website for SATA raid drivers. Maybe get some more help in the OS forum.

So it sounds like you were on the internet and were infected with Sasser. Was it an LSASS.EXE error message? Shutdown -a will abort that...for next time. :)

As dman says you need the SATA/RAID driver disk to do this. But back to the install you have on there now - what does last known good or safe mode give you? Same thing?

Why not just boot from your backup, and then access your SATA drive and pull your MP3s from it?
