Whilest updating, I stumbled on the windows update site but cancled rigth away after almost downloading this: Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 (KB842773). Anyone know that that is? if it's windows own spyware, I'm not touching that thing with a 10 foot pole. So.. any disadvantages to not installing sp2 or that? It just looked scary.

Most windows updates have a "more info" link on them that you can click to find out
what the update is meant to fix.

MS has thier own spyware removal tool available now, so you can rest assured that
they are not going to send you any spyware. Especially not thru Windows update.

Are you running spybot or ad-aware now? If so, and your system is clean of spyware,
then you are in a good postition to upgrade to SP2.

Background Intelligent Transfer Service is the service that Automatic Updates uses to check for new updates at Microsoft.

WinHTTP is a Microsoft COM object that many programs use to make HTTP connections to internet/intranet servers.

Take off the tin foil hat and download the updates. 😉
