SP2 and sound problems?

ever since i installed SP2 my speakers will make a low popping sound. its not quite a pop, but its like turning the power on for speakers that are set at full volume. i hear a buzz after the "pop" and this is after SP2. it happens for a couple of times in a row then disappears. i think ive been having problems with SP2. i might want to reinstall win2k without SP2. is that a bad idea? i havent really had problems with SP1 at all.
 
Odd, I don't see why the SP would have anything at all to do with sound. What sort of soundcard do you have, maybe there are new drivers that address this issue. Or maybe the soundcard doesn't support 2000 fully and SP2 just made the problem worse.
 
sound card worked fine til after sp2. not sure if its really sp2 tho or something else i installed at about the same time.
