SP2 and 56.73 video driver question

I installed SP2 and it installed the Microsoft version of the Nvidia driver (hate that it didn't even ask if I wanted to do it). Anyway, the driver doesn't appear in the Add/Remove Programs section of Control Panel and I want to remove it.

I went into Safe Mode after disconnecting my cable connection, went to my Display Card in Device Manager, and selected "Uninstall Driver". What it then states that it wants to do is remove the device, not the driver. Anyway, I selected Delete, rebooted into Safe Mode again and Windows reloaded the 56.73 driver. I tried three times to remove it. Am I missing something here? Could someone steer me in the right direction to help me get rid of the Microsoft driver so I can then run Drive Cleaner and change to a reference driver instead? Appreciate any help.

In the instructions for Drive Cleaner, it says to remove the driver, reboot into Safe mode, then run Drive Cleaner. Is it ok to run it after deleting the device but before rebooting? Thanks.

Thats how I always did it, never had any problems with it.

Edit - You could also just installthe 61.77s or whatever over top of the 56.73s?

If Windows is installing the driver automatically just install your driver over the top of it.
