I installed SP2 and it installed the Microsoft version of the Nvidia driver (hate that it didn't even ask if I wanted to do it). Anyway, the driver doesn't appear in the Add/Remove Programs section of Control Panel and I want to remove it.

I went into Safe Mode after disconnecting my cable connection, went to my Display Card in Device Manager, and selected "Uninstall Driver". What it then states that it wants to do is remove the device, not the driver. Anyway, I selected Delete, rebooted into Safe Mode again and Windows reloaded the 56.73 driver. I tried three times to remove it. Am I missing something here? Could someone steer me in the right direction to help me get rid of the Microsoft driver so I can then run Drive Cleaner and change to a reference driver instead? Appreciate any help.

as far as I know there is no way to get ride of the Microsoft Drive unless you find the driver files themself and delete the files. If you look at the device go to the Drivers tab I think and it should should the files be used then search for them and delete them but I wouldn't do this. I doesn't hurt to have the Microsoft driver there, just download the newest Nvidia Graphic Drivers and install them.

I think if you use device manager and select 'update driver' and then point to the drivers you prefer... you'll be fine. You don't need to uninstall them per se'
