Soyo Tek K7VTA Socket A MB

I've already posted this in the mb section but didn't find any info. I'm seriously considering this board (w/700 D), but would like to hear from anyone who is already using it. Any feedback would be appreciated.

and yes, I've already read the reviews, but I would like some real-world experience. Thanks.

I use that mobo, simply cause CompUsa only uses the Soyo brand. I have had it running for about 5 days now and no problems. Good features, very stable. I will be going to a Raid board after the next computer show, but this will be my standby board should anything happen. I know alot of members swear by the Asus and the Abit boards. If you can get your hands on the MSI KT7 Pro 2, I heard that is the board to have for socket A T-Birds. In either event, this board has done me well.

Thanks StyleWar. The Pro2 is my second choice, but the primary factor for going with Soyo Tek is the isa slot; really hate to give that up. I plan on doing some mild oc'g and the Pro2 is set up better for that, but the isa slot is something I don't want to give up unless it turns out that the board is a lost cause (use it for my modem; it has an on-board processor that doesn't pull anything from the cpu and I like that fact when doing stuff on the net).

anyone else???????

Understood, I currently have a USR 56k as well thats an ISA modem, so I utilize that ISA slot as well. I guess when I goto a board that has no ISA, ill need to get the 3com PCI hardware modem.

since CompUSA has the board I'll take a look at it, but if I do purchase it I'll go through Krex's. He's a small shop but I've dealt with him before and he's good; 'sides, he's got some good prices.

thanks again Stylewar.

i got a Soyo k7VTA with a d700 🙂

running grrrreat now that its mounted properly on the case (metal mobo feet incase casued problems with my PRI IDE controller)

anyway, what i like about the board is the multiplier settings..once you;ve unlocked your cpu, that is 🙂..comes with thermal grease and a bonus cd with norton stuff (didnt install em tho)...i'd say it's at least on par with Asus or Abit quality-wise..at a lower price!

havent really pushed my system yet..gimme a few months and am gonna shoot for 1GHZ (i hope)

yep..was attached to my Supra 56i ISA modem hehe..thats why I chose this Mobo too...

I got that MB as a Christmas present from my brother (of course I told him what to buy!) and am waiting for my 1GHz T-Bird to come today! I too wanted the ISA slot and it was the only board I came across that was well rated, had an ISA and multiplier adjustments. As a bonus, the version shipping now is the K7VTA-B and has the newer southbridge that supports ATA-100 - all for $108!

thanks folks for the info. Looks real good for the Soyo Tek and the 700 Duron. Got my eye on a nice case so I'll be set.

keep me posted on how well the oc'g goes EvilKnevil

and Gregdee, let me know how your setup and running goes.
