I got a K7vme as part of a cheapass barebones package and I am considering getting a mobile chip for overclocking on it.

Can anyone tell me if the BIOS supports adjusting the multiplier? I know it does the FSB, but I can't find any docs or google that tell about the multi. Tried the QuickStartGuide, even tried Soyo support, they haven't got back to me. I guess I could switch out the chip from my good box, but it is my only comp and it would be a waste of AS5 if it doesn't..

I throw myself on your tender mercies. (I know, I know - get a different mobo ;) )

Soyo should allow you to download the manual off their website. It's the best way to check. I do it all the time before ordering a new board.

Yeah they should! All I found was the QuickStartGuide, could be one of the other manuals would work. They have manuals for the K7VEM, etc. but not the VME. Bastriches.

Edit thanks for the suggestion tho.

Stay away from that mbd as far as you can! I bought one as part of the $20 AR deal from tiger direct, and hated it. The sound card is not working correctly, and you can not adjust the multiplier.

Soyo doesn't have any enough information about it anywhere. What you can get from the website is basically all the information taht you will ever get from them. The CD have the same exact info: the quick start guide.

Yeah got the same "deal" - hey it is still a deal if I did all the paperwork correctly. Thanks for the let-know, I'll go for the Duron, then if the thing is too funky, get one of these boards Zebo recommended to me:
As far as mobo the best is the Shuttle AN35N for only $55. Has all the mulltipliers, Vcores, Vdimm you'll ever need. And a rock solid nforce2 ultra 400 chipset.

Another option if you need video is the biostar "M7NCG 400" w nForce2 IGP which is basically the same board but with on-board GF4mx... about 6500 3dmark2001.
Or another option is the HotDeal on back order from Outpost of the
AN35N-Ultra and AMD boxed 2700+ (TBRED not mobile) ~ $110 incl ship to NV
