I have a Soyo Dragon Plus that uses the VIA KT266A chipset. I installed the provided ITE hardware monitor software thats downloadable on Soyo's website.

Upon running the hardware monitor, it detected the CPU temperatures that are substantially lower than what the BIOS is reporting. It is usually off at around 10+ degrees. Initially, I thought it was a BIOS issue and so I updated it to the latest one available at the website, but to no success.

Is there an issue w/ the ITE and hardware monitor? Is it a software issue w/ the hardware monitor? Is a fix or solution to this problem.

LMK

PS Does anyone also get this problem? I know quite a few ppl that own this motherboard in this Forum.

i've got 2 of 'em and never tryed the hardware moniter that came with it. i had seen some not to good things about it at the time. i used mother board moniter for awhile and the temps with that were right in line with the bios.
good luck

Download Motherboard Monitor version 5 yesterday. Not a bad program ..

Very complicated in the beginning to figure out how to use it (lots of trial and error to find out which sensor represents which aspect of the motherboard) But once you figure it out, its very robust application that can read practically every reading that is sent off by the ITE chip.

Hey there,

Hope this helps.

I had an epox with similar 'problems'

Usually...it's software settings. Chech the ITE program and make sure that the settings are mapped to the right diodes/thermo units. If the 10 degrees is too high, it may be mapped to a unit that is not there, and if it's 10 below the right temp - it may be monitoring the system instead of the cpu temp.

I hope you get what I'm saying.

Well - hope that helps. Poke around in the settings and see what's editable.

Peace....
