With many thanks to Adul I ask this question..

How high a chance do I have of getting my K6-3+/450(2.0v mobile cpu) to work in this Soyo SY-5ema+ motherboard (ss7, agp, pci, isa, 1mb L2, blah blah blah)? I fried my VA-503+ trying out my K6-3+/450 (@ 600 I might add) and don't wish to have a repeat. ;)

I'd appreciate any critical info people who know what they're talking about can give me! What specific revisions are best to work with this cpu, what bios updates, etc. Any info.. thanks!

Chweck the Soyo website, they have a good store of info on which processors will work with the various revisions of their mobos.

Checked both out...

No real info at either. But at the first link, I noticed there is nothing next to my motherboard. I'm assuming this means the K6-3+ will work without any bios updates or tweaking. If so, this is good. I'm also printing out the manual for the motherboard so I can see everything easily. This biatch is 68 pages though. ;) Gonna take a while on this old DeskJet 600, hehe.

Have you checked out the K6-x forum? Lots of great info there. BTW, that is a great little chip. I have one in an ancient ass old ASUS T2P4 HX board in my kids PC. The thing really runs nice.
