This was posted in the other Soyo P4VGM thread, but I decided to give it a thread of its own since its an even hotter deal than the mobo alone.

Micro Center has a combo deal offer on a Celeron 2.8GHz when purchased with the SY-P4VGM. The going street price on a Celeron 2.8GHz is $100 ~ $110, but you get it for $60 when purchased in combination with this board. After the $50.00 Soyo rebate, the grand total for both comes to $75 ~ $85 (depending on your sales tax and shipping situation). So you get a mobo + cpu for less than the going price of the CPU alone.

Also, if you go to Micro Center's index page and scroll about 3/4 down, on the left side of the page is an offer for $100 rebate when any motherboard is purchased with any processor in-store using a Micro Center Rewards Visa:
Buy ANY motherboard and ANY processor and get a $100 mail-in rebate when purchased on a NEW Micro Center Rewards VISA Credit Card!
Edit: Links fixed. Sorry.

They're advertising the cpu as a retail, sending you a oem.
Thats my take by what they are saying the cpu cost, click on the description and it's a oem they are sending.
Sounds like a bait and switch
I'm not trying to thread crap. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong
Thanks

Will do.

No where does it state the words "retail" or "boxed" Celeron processor in conjunction with the combo deal. It does not depict a retail boxed processor in the photo, and the item description clearly states "Heatsink and CPU Fan sold separately" and "30 Day Limited Warranty".

Where you have hallucinated the CPU is "advertised as retail", I couldn't say.

BTW, the going street price on an OEM Celeron 2.8GHz is $100 ~ $110. Boxed Celeron 2.8GHz start about $127 and up.

hmmm.

NO MY FRIEND! Getting $30 BACK from them!

I just did this, they advertise that you can get a $100 MIR for purchasing a mobo/P4 combo (Celeron qualifies) AND applying for the MicroCenter card. There is the $50 rebate on the deal from Soyo - which makes this $120 - $50 (Soyo) - $100 (MicroCenter) = $-30!!! Pretty awesome, there were plenty of mobos and CPUs left in the Denver store...

I just put the system together, not bad for something that makes you money!

Definitely qualifies for Deal Of The Year!

Anybody every apply for a credit card online? I usually have no problem giving out information for like NewEgg, etc. etc., but just have a bad gut feeling about giving out all that personal information to get the credit card, but knowing me, I probably will, just will take me a few minutes.

Not sure if they even do this online. I did this in a B&M.

How does the rebate for applying for a credit card work? What proof do you need to send in with the rebate?

And does your application have to be accepted for the rebate to go through? If your credit card application is rejected, is your rebate also rejected???

They approve you in-store, so you can "pay" with the new account right away. Once approved, they give you a form for the rebate - just like any other MIR, they fill in the required account details.

Thanks, OP!!! Just got in on this, and with the rebates I'll get about $25 back after taxes. While I was there, I figured I'd also pick up one of their $5-$5 Rebate (Free AR) 25packs of CDR's. KHypermedia junk, but free is free.

Thanks a ton. MicroATX will be perfect for my media console.
