Soyo onboard audio distortion

I have a multiboot system that I just upgraded to a soyo dragon platnimum mb. A couple of the OS's are not function quite right so I installed a new Win98SE partition. The sound is distorted, like talking through a kazoo. I figure it must but a driver problem but what's the solution?

The funny thing is the existing systems on seperate partitions sound great!
