Soyo motherboard & Amd xp 2500 build, huge pain!

System problems:

When i turn the system on, the system comes on for 5 seconds, and then shuts off, no beeps, no video, no nothing.

When I remove the 12v power cable from the motherboard, the system stays on, but still no posting, no video, no anything. Hard drives can be heard spooling up. No beeps still.



Specs:

Soyo Kt 880 motherboard.
amd mobile 2500 xp proc
mushkin pc3200 ram
fortran 500 watt ps (24 pin connecter with 24 to 20 pin adapter)

ANy help is greatly appreciated!

Have you reset CMOS?

Have you tried takind everything out that you don't need?

(keep CPU, HS/F, ram, vid card plugged in) If that still gets you nothing, try taking everything out of the case.

Put the motherboard on a piece of cardboard (or better yet, the foam pad that comes with the mb) on a table (or somewhere away from carpet 😉). Take everything off (except CPU because that's a pain) and only use powersupply, CPU, HS/F, ram, vid card. Start it up by shorting out the pins that the power switch from the case connects to (you can use a screwdriver).

If you still get nothing after that, you likely have a hardware problem.
