Soyo CPU-support chart seems to say it maxes at a 2100+ AthlonXP of either the Thoroughbred or Palomino varieties. Hope that helps!
FlapJack: One of the Soyo boards' quirks is that they often refuse to POST unless the motherboard is getting RPM readings on the CPU_FAN header. By any chance, did you not have a RPM-signalling fan plugged into the CPUFAN1 header up at the top of the DIMM slots when you were trying out the Tbird? Refer to pages 15 and 16 of the
manual, they talk about the Fan-Off Control and how to override it (hold down Insert key while powering on) so you can disable it in BIOS if you want.
Also, if you get the heatsink reversed by accident, the CPU will overheat very quickly and probably cause the board to lock up before it can even put up the POST screen. Good luck!
