I was "raised" on Asus MBs, but also heard a lot of nice words from friends about Abit and Soyo motherboards. Abit boards are covered hear frequently and seem to be very popular. What about Soyo boards? Are they stable, quality boards? I checked their website and their top of the line boards right now are KT600 Dragons (Ultra platinum and Plus.) Are these boards comparable to the leading boards from Abit and Asus in terms of quality and features? They seem to have everything that other top dogs have: SATA, IEEE 1394, etc. Is it worth paying more for Ultra Platinum over the Dragon Plus board? Thanks

SOYO DRAGON series are well known amongst enthusiasts, and have fame of having high stability and integrated features. Not so good for overclocking, but if its not your concern, its a magnificent board.

I cannot speak about this board in particular. But the board I just replaced was Soyo Dragon+. People were raving about this board in the forums at the time. I am glad to have an Asus back in my box.

As the ATI drivers matured I had less problems with the board but I still had problems on occasion and it would really p!ss me off. It would crash using IE. I would go several weeks no problems then bam it would hit a day or two then go 2 - 3 weeks no problems again. I just got tired of it. I was also itching for an upgrade. ;) Maybe my whole problem was related to the ATI video. I can tell you that I have had my Asus in for three weeks and have had zero problems with the same card.

All in all it was not a piece of trash but I am glad that I am back with Asus. ;)

Again this is not apples to apples comparison but personally I have bought my last Soyo. I must say that I like that platnum board and the goodies packaged with it.

I'd be more inclined to give Abit my money personally...I'd also think about an Nforce alternative. Unless you HAVE to have a Kt600

I'd just keep the options open. You may find a Nforce has everything the KT600 has that fits your need
