Specs: I first ordered -
Soyo MOBO KT600 Ultra Platimum
Drop down list options for processor choose-
CPU Barton 3200+
Added paid for 'testing'.
I had ensured all specs match . . .before ordering.
Then MOBO arrives. Beautiful, perfects, all specs...I am drooling. (Not on the MOBO!)
CPU is removed, with difficulty, after a bit of on line reading.
My experience has been when ZIF socket arm is lifted CPU is released.
This did not happen. I found on-line where a tiny screw drive inserted into a side slot, and twisted will release, Finally . . .CPU is removed to apply thermal paste.
Next I go to re-insert CPU, into socket A, '462', ZIF. Socket arm up, CPU, arrow aligned correctly,CPU falls into socket, socket arm gently pushed downward. Socket arm won't go! I tried CPU in every configuration and try arm to gently close, lock CPU in place. Socket arm did close but once. Found CPU was just sititng atop socket.
So my assumption based upon the paid testing, with CPU inserted into MOBO was that the MOBO, socket A, 462, ZIF, alone is defective.
To solve issue I ordered another Soyo MOBO KT600 Ultra Plat.
Then again new MOBO socket arm raised, CPU aligned correctly, CPU fell into socket, socket arm again will not go downwards.
Angry as all get ups! Come on do i need a rocket scientist degree ????
So results are Barton 3200+ CPU issue?!! But why????????!!!!
CPU is not damaged visably , nor by me.
Should I order another Barton 3200+ CPU, only this time as an OME?
