The board does not respond. When I "play" with the reset it occasionaly boot, but very unstable.
When I install just CPU I get severAl long beeps.
When I install cpu+AGP card I get several short and 1 long beeps.
When i install cpu+Agp+memory(nothing else) there is no beeps only
fans and power light is on.

Flashed bios to latest version. does nothing.
Tried several memory sticks and several Agp cards- nothing.
Tried all memory slots- nothing
Replaced power supply- no go.

Please help.

After flashing the bios did you load the defalts? If not this will cause many weird problems. Please go into cmos and load defalts. According to SOYO one long beep and 3 short beeps indicates failure of the motherboard to detect the video adapter. Please lay the case down so that the mb is on the bottom and reinsert the AGP video adapter. Accoding to there note in the FAQ you must PUSH VERY HARD on the card to seat the adapter correctly. This fixed my problem with detection of a new G-force 2 MX AGP video adapter.

Good luck

Please look at what I wrote above:
With cpu+Agp+memory=no beep at all.
This is my problem, I get no beep ( and no response)

I did load default setup in the bios.

No, I just installed the board for the first time, and the problems started right from the beginning.

I've been waiting to ask this question .. What ATX version is the board/power supply? I doubt that is the problem, but I had to ask..

Can you try a different video card/memory? The fact that the beeps change is a good sign... at least the board can sense a change in configuration..

You also might try messing with the case cables ... The speaker/HDD/power/reset wires that hook into the motherboard... The fact that the reset button will boot it from time to time gets me... Seems like turning it off and on would accomplish the same thing.. That would mean there is a problem initializing a device.. so it's not dead, its just flakey .. that could be anything that you have hooked up to the board, and it could be the board itself...

Nebulous problems have nebulous answers...
System Specs? (probably doesn't matter)

Andrew99 - you've got a point there.

1. First I installed the board in the case. Put In T-bird 750 Mhz slot A, Radeon video card and 2x128Mb crucial memory. On the first atempt it did not boot - nothing. Only fan and power light went on.
I played a little with the power and reset switches and got POST.
Bios version was aa2 (does not support T-bird) so I upgraded the bios to aa4 (latest one , that support T-bird).
2. Now I installed Hard disk , CD-rom and insttaled all drivers, but every time I had to make a new start , I had to play with the reset switch.
3. I ran 3Dmark 2000 (one time). When I tried to copy a file from the CD-ROM I got a lock-up and freeze screen.
4. Since I heard about power supply issues with this chipset, I went to my local computer shop to see if the ps is ok- it is , but he found out that the power/reset markings on the case are switched. reset is marked power and vise versa.
4. We tried several AGP cards(ATI Radeon, voodoo3, STB Velocity 128 (8MB)), two memory (Crucial and Mushkin)and several power supplies.
5. The current status is that I still can't get it to boot unless I play with the reset. And it is very unstable.
In order to try and understand what is causing the problem, I tried to boot , adding one component at a time.
With only CPU - there is a long beep , every second or so,
With CPU+AGP card - there are several (3?)short beeps and one long one,
With CPU+AGP+memory - no beep at all.
With CPU+memory- no beep at all.

I tried to switch the memory stick to another slot but it didn't help.

Sorry for the long story , but now you know it all.

Thanks,

Doron

Make sure motherboard isnt being shorted. Maybe a standoff against back of motherboard where there isnt a hole on the motherboard.

Try a pci video card just for kicks.

I once had a problem were a previous tech concluded ps was bad. Turned out it was as simple as the power button barely making contact to turn computer on.. the internal leads got pushed out of its "bracket" or whatever. Pushed it back in and it was fixed.

Just a tip to trace everything that plays in what your trying to get the computer to do.
