SOYO K-7V Dragon Plus Raid Issue

I recently updated my MB bios to accomodate a new processor, AMD XP 2100+. I also decided that I needed to do a clean reinstall of my operating system and drivers. I started having major problems after installing Nortons Firewall.
My computer recognized my CPU and worked properly after the bios update. But I still had problems with Norton's and previous virus damage.
Next I formated(NTFS) my two RAID IBM 60 G drives, partiioned them and then proceeded to install the OS,W2K. I was not able to get the drives to be recognized in an array. The striped array is there, but the OS will not install as it does not recognize the presence of the drives. I am on the right IDE channel 3 and 4, but I must be missing something fundamental. I have tried both the Promise and Windows drivers for the RAID hardware controller when prompted by Windows. I have enabled the RAID in my CMOS settings. I have even attempted to load XP with both the Promise or XP Raid drivers. My original mannual does not give very clear instructions and is somewhat vague as to how the drives are formated and then introduced into the system. I have read MS warnings about there OEM drive compatibility issues.
Any sugggestions? I am hoping to get another six months or so out of this system before I rebuild or update with the new systems on the horizon, but I need to get up and running.
