I have two questions regarding my Mom's new computer. I just set it up today and it seems to have a few quirks. Here's her specs:
Windows XP Home Edition
P4-2.8C, AS5, Thermalright SLK-947U HS, 80mm HS fan
Soyo Dragon2 Platinum Edition I875P MB
Crucial 1GB (2x512 sticks) PC3200 RAM (3-4-4-8
Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600Pro 128MB
SB Live! Value sound card
On-board LAN
On-board RAID (IDE mode only)
WD 40GB 7200rpm 8MB cache ATA HD (IDE3)
WD 20GB 5400rpm ATA HD (IDE4)
CD-ROM (IDE1)
CD-RW (IDE2)
I have two questions for now:
1. In the BIOS (4ba2 version), the System Performance is Normal, CPU Clock Ratio is 14X (this is Auto and doesn't show up if I remember correctly), CPU Frequency Select is Auto, Frequency 1MHz Stepping is 100, DRAM:CPU ratio is Auto and DRAM frequency is 400MHz. My question is I thought the Freq. Stepping should be 200 for the RAM to be 400, but Auto sets it to 100. I'd like to change it to 200, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do it. Anyone have any idea what's going on and what I need to do?
I thought the CPU FSB was supposed to be at 200 and not 100.
2. I can't seem to reset the computer with the power button when it locks up completely. I unplug the PSU cord and plug it back in. I set the switches like they were supposed to be I think. If you need details, I can provide them tomorrow night.
Thanks for any help on these two questions!
