Soyo Dragon+ Sound Card Question

Just built my new Dragon+ System and I'm wondering about the daughter-card sound board options...

There are several connectors that I don't understand.

1. Center/Bass - OK, I know this one.
2. Rear_L/R - Ok, know this one as well.

[Now, I have been plugging my Creative Labs FS2100 into these plugs and NOT the ones on the motherboard. Does it matter?

3. Optical Input - What will these plug into?
4. SPDIF Input - Not sure, I'm assuming and external source, like a CD Player can plays through the computer to the speakers.
5. Optical Output - Again, not sure.
6. SPDIF Output - Output to SPDIF? Not sure.

Im no expert just so you know.....

I dont think it matters but Im pretty sure you have to use the edaughter board anyways if you want a surroundsound setup

3/5) Your optical input/outputs are used to connect to like stereos that have optical connections. Using opitcal you can get 5.1 surround sound from a DVD player using only one cable instead of 6. Optical connections are digital not analog, so your sound is much better....

4/6) Again SPDIF it/out puts are like optical but use coaxial wire instead of fiber optics like your optical in/out puts......

Almost any new surroundsound stereo receiver will either have Optical, SPDIF or even both inputs.....some might have outputs.

Almost any DVD that is $130+ at best buy will either have a optical or SPDIF output, Iv read that some cd players can use one of those types of connections as well.

As a side note, the SPDIF plug looks like a RCA plug but they are not the same, you need a better made cable for SPDIF and both ends of the connection have to support it, you cant plug the SPDIF output from the daughter board to a normal analog RCA inout on the back of a stereo.
