Soyo Dragon+ RAID0 *and* SCSI

I'm in the reading and prepping stage for a new install (XP1800 on a SOYO Dragon Plus).

I am planning on my boot disk being a true SCSI drive off of a U160 SCSI PCI Card.

I also have 2 WD 120 GB drives that I wish to have as one big RAID 0 drive.

So I think I understand the cabling of the IDE drives. If I'm correct, both are set as masters and one is connected to IDE1 and the other is connected to IDE2. I can use IDE3 and IDE4 for my CD and DVD drives (and everything's a master - gotta love this motherboard!).

But my confusion comes in the BIOS settings. For RAID, the promise controller says to set the first boot device to SCSI if you want to boot from the IDE drives. But I want to boot SCSI to boot from the SCSI drive! I haven't gotten it built yet, so maybe there will be a SCSI1 and SCSI2 boot selection?

How do I set this up?

Many thanks

I am going to try to help because you have the same m/b and cpu as me. Although your setup is confusing.

Your IDE setup is correct. You can set up 4 IDE drives, each as a master, each on their own IDE port. Remember though that RAID is IDE 3 and 4, not 1 and 2. Also you have to change the jumper on the m/b from IDE (default) to RAID. Also enable RAID in bios.

As for the SCSI settings. I am not sure. On on of my rigs, I have no drives connected to M/B. Just a 80GB on a IDE Raid Controlller. In BIOS it is considered SCSI and it boots fine. I think you should set it up as SCSI boots first and it should default to your SCSI card. Just try it.
