I'm not sure how to phrase this, so please bear with me :)

Can I use the Raid channel(s) for additional hard drives, rather than for a Raid setup? For example, can I have 6 or 8 IDE devices running in a non-Raid configuration? Looking at their website, it looks like I can do 6. Is this right, or am I just blindingly clueless ;)

Well I know you can use the promise conroller as another at ide controller. You simply have to swich over a jumper(the only one the board has) and then install the ultra 100 drivers instead of the raid ones. I don't see why the promise controller wouldn't allow you to have masters and slaves so I guess you can have 8 IDE devices running if you really want to.

Yeah, you can set it up like an Abit BE6-II with 8 IDEs. That's why I'm going with this one for my migration to AMD. I've got 4 HDs, DVD, CD-R and a Zip, so I need a place to plug them all in.

While I don't own this mobo, I have read (on more than one post) that using the RAID controller to connect additional HDDs is not advised because they run slow!
