Soyo Dragon + minor problem with ata100

I've just fired this thing up and after working out several bugs and remembering just how everything goes back together. I keep coming up with the boot up message: "primary ide ... no 80 connector cable installed" and it gives me ata33 for my ata100 maxtor (yes, I'm sure it is ata100). I used the cables that came in the dragon+ kit (nice collection) and Soyo say's they are ata66/100 cables. The drive works fine on ata33. What could i be doing wrong? Does everyone use these cables and get ata100 (with an ata100 drive). Also, with the tight case and wide cables, has anyone used the "round" cables for more air control.

make sure the cable is on right (i dont know why, but one end is designed to go in the motherboard, and the other ends to harddrives... i noticed on one of my boards that if it was backward it thought i had an ata33 cable)

the part that is supposed to go on the motherboard is usually blue

And then you get some boards like one I had that did ATA66 on a normal 40-conductor cable. I even benchmarked the thing - 50MB/sec burst speeds. Go figure....
