Soyo Dragon MB - USB 2.0?

Soyo SY-KT600 Dragon Plus V 2.0 Via KT600

Bought it. Tried to hook up my external USB 2.0 drive, and Windows XP complained that I was trying to hook up a high-speed device to a slow USB port.

Installed (I think) all the drivers that came with the motherboard.

Am I getting caught in the "is it 2.0 or not" USB name game?

perhaps only some of the ports are 2.0 capable? have you tried other USB ports?

it's pretty easy to do... my external hard drive just plugged in and worked, and it's pretty fast overall.

it's either that, or the USB2.0 drivers are not installed... all i can think of.

Run HDtach on the drive. My USB 2.0 drive averages 17mb/sec. A usb 1.1 won't come anywhere near that.

I recall something about deleting the USB controllers and allowing XP to redetect them. Maybe also needing to visit MS update site. You should see the word enhanced or USB 2.0 in device manager when you look at your USB controllers.
