Soyo Dragon+ and SB Live!5.1

are there any known issues with the combination because my computer freezes everytime the SB live!5.1 drivers are installed, and when they are installed ide3 and ide4 do not work. I have winxp and apparantly there are some drivers that came with windows that install automatically everytime i boot up, but i dont even have enough time to update the drivers before the computer crashes. the same thing happened in windows2000, but in there i had to use the cd for the drivers.

Disable the SB components, then do the update. Can you even get into safe mode?

Did you disable the onboard sound. This could be causing conflicts on your system if it thinks there are 2 sound cards. Check your manual on how to totally disable the onboard sound. It could be via jumper and/or bios settings. Also, you might want to move the card (diff. PCI slot) and make sure it is not sharing irq with the raid/ATA100 (IDE 3 or 4, if you are counting the first one as 1 and not IDE0) controller. I believe the raid controller shares irq with the first pci slot (beside the agp port). Again check the manual to make sure.

Try downloading the latest driver from Creative labs FIRST to your computer.. and install the drivers. Then put the card in. That worked for me.

Press F8 after the BIOS finishes POSTing.
