I got this from Microcenter way back for around $3 after a $20 Soyo rebate that took 5 months. It does what it is supposed to do. Actually, I use the usb port more than the other ports.

I got this (BayOne 9-in-1) with my motherboard, only came with the beige faceplate. Those boxes come with beige, silver, black. Anyone has black or even silver faceplate (beats beige) that they want to part with ill pay shipping n envelope :D pleeeze

Looks cool.
I got a different reader more than a year back from Newegg that had a built in USB cable. I only reallized the problem in that after I installed it and thought, gee, how the heck am I going to plug it in? It took a few hours to drill a hole into the back of my case. I should've just gotten this instead.

Don't you just plug it in to the motherboard?

I think he means that it was like an external device with the actual usb cord attached to it. Right?!

Tried to buy it yesterday, and Newegg just sold out. It went fast! I've been looking for a multi-function card reader like this. My current case doesn't have front audio or USB ports, so this is perfect for me. The front is beige while my case is black, but the face plate is detachable so you can paint it easily. I see that other sites are selling this for about $29 + shipping. This was a great find on Newegg.

Just wanted to give my two cents that if your item ever breaks (very likely), you'll have very tough time getting RMA on the time.

1. Soyo started charging $5 "handling fee" for all RMA's.
2. You'll incur a lot of time and $$$ just getting to a live person to get a "reference no." which you will need to get an RMA no. But get this, the no. I got rejected by their RMA website.
3. Soyo is a dishonest comp. that engages in rebate fraud. Read some of the complaints at: http://www.planetfeedback.com/sharedLet...146363-5-0-0-20-0-fb_date-desc,00.html

Good luck.

Sometimes WinXP will lockup when you install these types of devices. To many drive assignments at one time freaks it out. I had to do a reinstall of XP the first time installed it. Of course, that was prior to SP2 if that makes a difference.

I'd consider buying this if Soyo didn't make it. But, Soyo is a bunch of $hitheads so I'll never buy one of their products again.
