Soyo and Gigabyte problem

In the last couple of weeks I have had more problems with these two boards than I have had in the last 4 years. The problem is that every time I boot the machines for the first time each day (or after switching them off then back on again) I get as far as the Windows 98 (SE) desktop, and they reboot. This boot is usually successful and they work well. But why the first reboot???
The spec of the machines is as follows;
Gigabyte GA7-ZX Rev 1.0 or Soyo K7-VTA
300W ATX PSU
128Mb PC100 CAS2 (also tried CAS3 & PC133)
NVidia 32Mb TNT2 AGP4
Panasonic 8X DVD or 52X BTC CDROM
Athlon 900 or Duron 750MHz

I tried with a clean system with only Win 98 SE, I updated the BIOS, the 4 in 1 drivers etc etc but no matter what I have tried the problem is still there, yet Soyo, Gigabye, AMD and VIA all reckon that no one else is having this problem.
I have since built 2 more computers based on the Gigabyte GA7-ZX (Rev 1.01) and this problem does not appear to happen! Just a coincidence???

Any ideas.

Have you tried boot-log analyzer to determine whats happening. maybe you have something funky thats loading and causing the problem.

I tried that once but the log didn`t show anything abnormal. I am sending one of the systems that I have built to my main distributors for examination as they reckon that I am the only person who has reported this kind of problem to them. I will post their diagnosis when I receive it especially if they can find a cure/reason.

Regards

I had the same problem with Win2000. It would almost boot to the desktop then it would reboot the machine. I corected it by doing a complete reformat of the drive and reinstalling the op. system. Also, when you do the reformat make sure you can easily access any special software drivers and that you have the latest patched for everything.
