Soyo 7VCA: CPU fan switch work?

I have golden orb on Celeron, and have attached the 3pin to CPU fan switch on the MB. I have yet to see the fan turn on. Does it turn on automatically as needed? (warm to touch but does not turn on).

Anyone have experience on this? I have bought another adapter so the fan is now on all the time, but am curios as to whether MB may be defective.

Sounds like that connector is defective yeah, i HIGHLY doubt the header has to be enabled, the fan should just start up.. if the same fan works by other means of being powered than the header is most likely not working and the board is defective.
