my board is having some serious problem. i have tried all bios.
1) whenever the hdd is in primary ide of the 82371, the machine just doesn't boot
2) if i put the hdd on the highpoint first ide (and nothing else), machine will boot
3) however, if i put the hdd on the highpoint first ide, and the cdrom on the secondary ide on the 82731, the machine will not boot again, and hang right after the highpoint device detection.
4) if i put the hdd on the highpoint first ide, and the cdrom on the highpoint second ide, the machine will also hangs right after the highpoint device detection.
i have tried several hdd, including wd 15g, ibm 6g, ibm 22g. the cdrom is just a generic 48x. any idea what happened?!?! i am using a p3 733mhz slot 1. thanks a lot for all the help.
