Soyo 24' vs Samsung 24'

I will be picking up a new monitor on black friday. Browsing through the ads, I found that circuit city will carry the Samsung 24" HD LCD Widescreen Monitor - $329.99. I was pretty set on getting the SOYO from Office max at 249, but seeing that the samsung is so low in price, wich one do you guys recommend I get?

Samsung has MANY models. Some uses TN panels, some uses P-MVA panel. Soyo reputation for reliability is spotty but it uses a p-mva panel which is the better panel.

😀

Samsung model 245BW uses TN panel. But Samsung should have less QC problem as Soyo. Someone even said his Soyo caught in fire, which is kind of scary.

I think the best way is to take a look. If you do not find visual difference, go with Samsung. Otherwise, go with Soyo, at your own risk 😛

jeez... so I guess soyo is the way to go because of the pannel huh? is it really THAT unrealiable? I will be taking this monitor back with me to europe so it wont be so easy for me to switch it out if it fails. I will however test run it till the end of January before I move. Argh... making these decisions is always so hard 😛

I love my Soyo so far. If you are taking it to Europe, you won't have support there for any of the models you purchase here.

Exactly, so, do you think it would be too risky getting the soyo? Keep in mind that I would be running it for about 2 months before I leave so any glitches should be caught before I leave right?

I'm quite happy with mine as well.
I had the same problem that certain others have had it seems where artifacts show up on the screen every now and then. Seems there are some quality control issues with the dvi cable that come with these which cause this issue...so keep that in mind and have a extra laying around if you decide to purchase the Soyo.
