Southwest $99 one-way specials? Bah-humbug!

I get an email from them every week. Every time I see this message:

"Systemwide Savings available for travel seven days a week
for $39 to $99 one-way with 14-day advance purchase.
http://www.southwest.com/jp/genmkt_040210.shtml?src=et033004"

I used to use them all the time. I even got a free flight because I made four round trips with them in a year. I liked that they had direct flights from RDU (NC) to AUS (Austin, TX).

Not any more. They don't fly direct and every time I look up the special, it is always unavailable for the weekend (fly out Friday morning, fly back Sunday). I even called their 1-800 number to ask a live person why they advertise the $99 one way special, but never seeming to have it available. She (the Southwest rep) said she didn't understand that either. And she couldn't find me any weekend flights that were, or would be, open for that special.


So why tease me?

they've always been like that for as long as i could remember... at least for as long as i've flown with them.

they actually have 39 bucks each way from LA to SJ but early in the morning on friday before memorial day..... sigh i work... sigh sigh.

i take advantage of their specials all the time. just make sure you do it way in advance. the number of seats they have allocated for promotional fares go fast.
