Interesting. Out of my 18 years of living in Nashville, the only time I heard that was from people from outside the city. Nashville isn't the typical stigma of the South. I rarely heard any of those, though now that I'm in Cookeville (small town TN) I hear them all the time.

Ok, what i don't get is that people call TN the south...I am from Florida and that is the south, not Tentucky....

These folks were from Goodletsville, which is about 10 miles north of Nashville.

Tennessee is definately part of the South. Weather conditions are similar with the rest of the Southern states, we're south of the Mason-Dixon, and we were even part of the Confederates during the Civil War. We're also the smartest Southern state, because we were the last to leave the Union and the first to rejoin. ;)

Ah Jesus. I'm afraid to go up there, that's small small town TN. I think you'd get shot just for stepping into their yard.

At the gathering I was at, someone told a joke about a fictional Bubba character.

After he finished the joke, one guy said, "dern I thought you wuz talkin' about my cuzin Bubba". Another one of them them said the same thing. It was pretty tough to keep a straight face.

My mom's originally from Nashville, and some of her friends were named Honey Gal, Junior, String Bean, Big Man, Cabbage, Bubba (of course), etc.

The only part of Florida that's "Southern" is the northern part, aka the Redneck Riviera. The rest of it is beaches/Cuban :p

What? Everyone else in "The South" doesn't even consider Florida in "The South." :D

I just moved from Tennessee & Alabama to Massachusetts. It seems that they forget a syllable or two when they pronounce their words :)

ROO al = rural

My mom and I were driving around Franklin, TN looking for a house her brother used to own. She said it was in a rooal area. I said, "you mean, rural". She says, "yeah, rooal".

As in Arcadia, Sebring, La Belle and Clewiston?

Where in Florida do you actually live?

Heh, I bought a dual celery 333 setup from a guy in Goodlettsville.

Yeah, southerners have their own way of speaking. I can understand it just fine, but I have some trouble with people here in Indiana. They all talk way too fast. It's like listening to sped up Spanish.

I'm from South Florida and I can say with no hesitation that Florida is NOT the south. It is just a sub-located section of New York!

Yup. Except for the panhandle.
