It was worse back in Virginia, I thought it would be terrible here but have been pleasantly surprised how light it is

That's 26mph.... Are those surface streets? If not, you shouldn't be bragging.

Because I've done 30 mile commutes in 20-25 minutes with record times that are.... Uhhhh, yeah. Real low.

well 8 miles in 12-20 mins during traffic time might not be so good, but when you consider its Southern California, I thought that was pretty decent, much better than Virginia.

still depends on the area though.. socal has lots of suburbs that rarely see traffic while other areas are horrendous all the time. Numerous stretches of Ventura Blvd; Sepulveda between the airport and about Roscoe; Santa Monica Blvd; etc..etc..etc..

The 405 about right now =P

No sh!t...I made the mistake of taking the 405 (the sign said: San Diego freeway) one time heading for San Diego...at abouot 3 p.m...BIG MISTAKE.
Took over 3 hours go get thru L.A. After that, I stuck to the 5. Still slow going, but (generally) much better than the 405...
Still, L.A. traffic seems to be better than or at least no worse than S.F. bay area traffic, and every time I've needed to change lanes, some one opened a hole for me. THAT never happens in the bay...turn on a turn signal, and they close up any gap that might have existed.
