South Koreans trimming their tongues to improve speech

SEOUL, Oct. 17 ? Chop a centimeter or so off your tongue and become a fluent English speaker. That is the hope that recently drove one mother to take her six-year-old son for surgery aimed at ridding him of his Korean accent when speaking the language of choice in global business.

I am from korea and I dont have an korean english accent whatsoever. Albeit I do have a southern twang. Since I lived in the south for many years.

My best friend is Korean and he teaches me phrases so I can be polite to his parents and grandparents when I go over to his house. I can see why English would seem like more of a "workout" for your tongue to them... the key to speaking good Korean seems to be moving your tongue as little as possible and slurring your words a little.

this is a physically limiting factor. i have that string thing extra long connecting my tongue. my parents wanted the docs to take it off when i was an infant, but the doctors in the US dont do it. in all asian countries they do. So now there are certain sounds i cant pronounce completely accurately, but its not that bad. no accent or anything, just a sort of light-lisp.

You need to see a proctologist to have that stick removed from your rear end, dumas. My post was just an observation, don't attack me just because you feel insecured/inadaquate about your instrument and got upset when someone pointed it out for you.
BTW, I was also from Asia, not full blooded though.
