Once rich folks find out you can get an upgrade, this surgery will take off. "Good news honey, I don't need to buy a Hummer. Just need a transplant and my sense of adequacy will return."

So does this mean now when I meet a girl at the bar and I wake up in a tub of ice she will have stole my kidney AND my penis?

Depends on how big it is. I doubt there will be much of a market for -4" dicks. Now if you have a 10" dick you might want to be a bit more cautious.

Will this new knowledge be applied to the thousands of girls who were brutally circumcised? Sounds like a more appropriate use for this.

If we can reconnect nerve endings to get such functionality restored, why aren't we able to reconnect spinal cords? I suppose it's only a matter of time until the technique is advanced enough.

If you're in doubt go on an SA forum and ask. I assure you, they do.

I'm looking outside my window onto Johannesburg, South Africa, the place of my birth.

No, they do not smash it with a rock. They use sharp knives, maybe scalpels even. Where they go wrong is that they do not disinfect properly and no anaesthetic is used.
