South African white far-right leader Eugene Terre'blanche, who fought to prevent the end of apartheid in the early 1990s, was beaten and hacked to death at his farm on Saturday

Yikes, bad way to go. I dislike bloodshed, even if his political views were distasteful.

From the article, it looks like there was a dispute over money rather than a political motive. Wonder if this will cause a rather nasty squabble with his supporters and the groups they dislike.

South Africa was better under apartheid anyway. Now, it's just another shithole in Africa. Everyone knows this.

South Africa was far more peaceful under the apartheid, but I doubt you'll find anyone in SA who thinks it was "better."

The problem with the anti-apartheid movement in the early 1990s was the extreme violence. I mean extreme. Over 20,500 killed - mostly innocent - between 1984-1995.

Mandella wasn't simply a political prisoner, he was a murderer and gangster. He robbed banks, trafficked women, etc.

The ANC killed anyone who wouldn't tow their line, this including peaceful and "progressive" anti-apartheid movements.

ANC then went on to dominate the negotiating process, marginalizing groups like Inhatha Freedom Party, and seize a virtual monopoly on power in 1994.

The apartheid was already in the tank well before the violence started. The ANC simply took advantage of the situation. Had the anti-apartheid movements spent less time killing each and perhaps uniting, south africa today would probably be a lot more peaceful.

The ANC killed more people in half a decade than the apartheid had in 70 years.

Today over 18,500 are killed every year, nearly 50 homicides a day. This isn't including the anti-white violence, where over 4,000 have been killed since 1991.

A fitting end for a fascist, and don't give me any of this politically correct "no one deserves to be murdered" garbage. I wonder if the machete has "this machine kills fascists" inscribed on it.

Oh, I see. It's ok that people get slaughtered, as long as you don't approve of their political views.

Unbelievable that even an ATPN right wingnut would be pro apartheid

no one is apologizing for the apartheid, but this kind of brutality is not uncommon in post-apartheid south africa.

regardless of what happened in the past, south africa is a very, very flawed democracy that is now heavily racist towards the white minority.

hate crimes and social inequalities have resulted in 1/5 of the white population (~1 million) to emigrate elsewhere.

its been nearly 20 years since the apartheid ended. it's about time SA stop killing itself in the name of social justice. move on.

the white middle class are the biggest tax contributors. even though blacks are 80% of the population, they only occupy 1% of the middle class. the white population is aging and soon the largest source of tax revenue will be gone.

anti-apartheid "lynchings" are becoming a serious issue in many rural areas, where blacks attack white farms and murder them in similar manners as described in the article.

its horrific and unacceptable.

Every person in the world should be "hostile to the death penalty". The death penalty is state murder.

Pathetic. Look at you, all high and mighty denouncing the death penalty, and now you seem to take an unusual amount of glee in the savage beating and murder of a man, because you disagree with his political views. You know what this tells me? It tells me that you are a confused and utterly foolish child. You can't even make up your mind on something so basic, so fundamental as the death penalty. To you the standard for whether or not a man should die is based solely on your mood. At least the other posters on this forum, misguided though they may be, are consistent in their foolishness. You, on the other hand, are the fool of fools. Everyone knows this.

I wonder if he made up his last name.

Yeah when I saw that I wondered the same - turns out he was born a "white land." Go figure.

Unbelievable that even an ATPN right wingnut would be pro apartheid

Hey, what's good for Reagan... ;)

It's a sad situation for sure. There are plenty of non-racist Boers who were born there who are being persecuted and killed because they are white. Fascists come in all colors in SA. I have little sympathy for this guy because he was a hate preaching white supremacist/fascist, but I grieve for those caught up in the crossfire. If I ever attend a hunting trip down there, I'll be packing a nice life insurance policy and bristling with weapons.

SA's biggest problem (specifically JoBurg) is the massive influx of poor and uneducated refugees from Zimbabwe into a country with masses of poor themselves.

What everyone knows is that you are an ignorant know-nothing fuckwit.

.

And what caused Zimbabwe to go to shit?

Apartheid in SA and Rhodesia under minority rule weren't really good for mankind, but look at how things are now, not exactly stellar either.

If being a fascist is all it takes to get you riled up and enjoy somebody being killed. Then lets line up nearly our entire govt, including your beloved Obama. Minus Ron Paul of course.

Agreed. I'm shocked that some people say that SA was better off under Apartheid.

I approve of this killing. No different than some of the thugs in our country who rape and pillage their neighborhoods receive a violent ending, yet the neighborhood mourns him like a fallen hero. Apparently some here have no problem doing the same for this thug who oversaw the death of people trying to vote. A violent end for a violent man. Good.

Don't be surprised that IHV wouls say something like that. I'm sure he would agree that Germany was more peaceful under Nazi Germany as well.

Oh, the irony. Lets kill the facists. With that line of thinking, kill yourself and do us all a favor.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but SA was an economic superpower during Apartheid. Now its a shithole, just like every other African country minus Egypt. Is SA really any better now? Whats better?

SA is still an economic superpower...in Africa. I guess I'm not understanding your point. Are you saying it's not a powerhouse anymore? Last I checked it was still in the G20 and economic policies have not taken a socialist bent. Egypt was never a powerhouse of any sort, except in exporting Islamic terrorist philosophies.

Hey you pro-apartheid nutjob. Do you not understand the difference between the death penalty and a bigot being hacked up with a machete?

That's right, the death penalty is wrong because it's state murder, even if the person deserves to die. If some murderer hacks up a fascist and he deserves it, justice was done. I wouldn't be the one to do it, EVER, for the same reason I don't want MY state to be the one executing people.
