Sourcesafe

We are going to be replacing one of our servers that has Sourcesafe on it and was wondering if anyone knows of a way to transfer all the history and data over.

IIRC you can just copy the data folders over then point the clients at the new share.

I once moved the server files to a Unix server + SAMBA and it still worked because nothing really runs on the server-side, it's just a directory structure.

yup, but in my case I just took the drive out of the old server (actually just a desktop) and put it in a new server (still really just a desktop). SourceSafe never knew the difference, I just had to change my drive mappings on the client computers and that was it.
