source of dvd media longer than 2hrs

i'd like to find the dvd equivalent of the t-160 video tape. no this is not because i want to copy and sell movies. its because i want to retire my vcr and start recording classic films on dvd. many exceed 120 min. suggestions please.

dvds are a digital format, not ana analog one so the amount minutes you can fit on o a dvd highly depands on how much you compress the video.

well, i guess the question is then, is there any dvd media for sale to the public that exceeds 4.2 gb, which i guess is the standard dvd. i read a lot on here about people having trouble squeezing a movie onto a single dvd.

guess i should have done a little research before posting. i see that verbatim has a 9.4 gb dual sided media. of course you have to cough up 9 bucks for a disc, which seems awfully steep.
