Source for Dead Power Supply Cases?

I'm building grid chargers for hybrid cars, and have found computer power supplies to provide an optimal case, complete with fans, a power outlet and a switch.

I've built a few, but unfortunately and running out of old power supplies. I prefer the style with the large 120mm fans, as the parts fit best.

I'd even consider buying some used/working ones if I could find them at a cheap enough price.

If anyone has a good source, or has any supplies they'd like to get rid of for a few bucks (and maybe strip out the heavy interior parts to save on shipping), I'd really appreciate any info!

Feel free to email me: artric@gmail.com

Thanks!

By the way, you can see my first grid charger in action on my Insight here: http://www.insightcentral.net/forums/modifications-technical-issues/17457-check-out-my-custom-grid-charger-my-story.html#post168624

Hey, a Super Flower PSU! I think I have a dead Cooler Master with a 120mm fan that you can have for shipping, plus maybe others. I'll email you.

Go down to your town / city recycling area. I know in Wayne, NJ they take in all sorts of old electronics, so finding a few old pc type power packs won't be hard. You may need to make a deal with the town rep there to see if he will let you take them. Strip the parts and return them for proper disposal. Also check the surplus stores.

I was actually thinking the same thing. In my area, you can just go in and drop things off with no supervision, so taking them would be easy. The sad part is that I actually dropped a few off there when I cleaned out my closet. :'(

However, I'm hoping for some more "impressive" looking power supplies that the enthusiast community here would provide. Even though my charger will perform the same function, people will be more excited if it looks awesome, and when they post pics of it online, I want it to reflect well on me too! 😀

Thanks so much for your help! And thanks Zap! I have interest from a few people, so I will likely be needing a handful of these. Please post if you're willing to help out a poor, unemployed guy!🙂
