SOUR Deal of the year nomination!!!

Inspired by the Deal of the year thread, would like to hear from people their experience of the worst deal or sour deal of the year....

Enjoy...

HAS to be the 'free' Simply Accounting, after $80 MIR from staples:

Staples sends me teh Canadian version. I call them, and they say they have no other product. So I call AccPac, and they, very accommodatingly, say they will swap my product out for the US version. I call Stalpes back, and they say SURE, swap away!

So, by the time that my swap has occured, my rebate gets postmarked two days late. Two weeks later, I get a card in the mail saying that my refund was rejected.

It took some time, but I finally got them to process my rebate, but it was a bit maddening to have $80 tied up, and I thought lost,

Oh, and before I had everything sorted out, AccPac started giving the software away for free anyway. <argh!>

That CompUSA Western Digital 120gb harddrive for $120 deal a few weeks back. Stupid Best Buy representitive on the other end said the price was $299 when I tried to pricematch, even though it was $199 at every other Best Buy in the area. I called back the next day and it was $199 and CompUSA had sold out. Suck.

<< Dell $23 speakers? >>

That has my vote, especially since it would have made a wonderful Christmas present and they took 10 days to cancel the orders.

1) DELL takes top honors in this category for the 4th year in a row, by a HUGE margin.
2) Philips.
3) Off-topic threads.

Dell, of course. I have tried to make FIVE purchases from them in the last two weeks, including two computers that didn't involve any wierdness at all, and not a single one of them has "worked". Yet.

I believe the new Webster's Collegiate Dictionary is going to include the word "dell" as a verb. You know, "Hey, buddy, dell you!". Or, "Well, dell my granny!" Or, "Boy, did they dell me over!"

Hehe yeh Dell sometimes sucks

My dell comp been spazzing out recently.
Keyboard broke, ez enough to fix, its under warranty, so they "sent" me a new one

2 weeks later I email them back saying it never came
"It was never shipped"

So they gonna throw in a free mouse pad!! Oooh La La ,Great for my ........... Optical Mouse? WTF!

SGIs 1600SW and the months and months of silence everyone suffered waiting to know.
Add to that the slimy sh^t-suckers who bought 3 to eGay 2 so they could essentially get one "free",
all the while screwing their Anandtech brethren. :|

when I didn't get in on the Dell shopping cart error thinking *nah, this'll never work- there gonna cancel for sho* and missed out on a $200 ''50 inch plasma TV.
I could have cried.

i'll put my nomination for the Dell $23 speakers too.

matter of fact, looks like i'll put it up for next years nomination too because looks like Dell's dragging this one on. just checked my cancelled order that was re-listed and pushed from 12/21 to 1/02 and now to 1/11/02.

<< Philips CDRW rebate >>

Hell, make that ANY rebate from Philips. Five phone calls, two resubmissions, and almost 7 months for my sound card/speaker combo rebate.:disgust:

Another vote for Dell. Ordered my NICs too late...never got them. Ordered speakers...never got them. :disgust:🙁:|

Dell (speakers... 955DF... NICs...) but you can now get the screw from them (part # 48480) for $.04 shipped free...

you actually think DELL shipped the 50" plasma for less than $300 ?? get real ! they cancelled everyone's LCD and they shipped the plasma TV ??

Grow up, it must be just some 13 year old bragging and making u twist

From reading these threads, it looks like the Philips rebate.

AND - believe it or not - I actually bought a USB Philips CDRW from OD on Black Friday (unknown at the time were these troubles)!!!

I actually expect $20 back from OD and HOPE for $20 from Philips (hahahahah).

At least I got to use a $30 online coupon in the B&M so it isn't too bad if I lose $20.

The OTHER big disappoint (not to me I knew better) was the Sony VAIO home system with Digital camera for $500 ($2000 pricing error).

Dell $23.00 speakers gets my SOUR vote.

I placed one order Dec. 7th - they LOST it.

I placed another on Dec. 12th - they cancelled it.
