Title says it all

Just got the X-Fi Xtreme Music

But I still prefer the sound out of my XBOX. Weird.

In XBMC, I set the audio settings to "output to all speakers", and after doing this, it sounds phenominal. Is this DDL?

The sound card costs more than my XBOX plus Mods!!

Does the XBOX use soundstorm? I really haven't paid attention to gaming systems at all.

What do you have hooked up as far as speakers?

What's your source material?

Yeah, AFAIK that's what Nvidia originally developed it for, and it then found its way to Nforce1/2 motherboards, I believe.

Oh, that's nice.

EDIT: oh, and how do you have the two sources connected to your speakers?

XBOX is connected to my computer via ethernet, then connected to Pioneer Elite via HDTV pack (optical digital) Playing thru Boston Acoustics HD-10 (x4), reference Center channel, and Boston HD-5 (x3). When connected like this, my receiver is telling me that the signal is "Dolby Digital". Very cool, and sounds awesome. The bass response is great thru my Klipsch sub. Alot more so than the X-Fi. Maybe that is the biggest difference.

Is the X-Fi hooked up via digital as well?

EDIT: oh wait, it must be, right?

Have you tried analog from the X-Fi?

EDIT #2: oh, and of course the right answer is do whatever sounds best to you personally.

yeah, X-Fi connected digitally, and have also tried analog. I have a 1/8 minijack to coaxial digital, running 12 feet.

I think I'll return the X-Fi, as my Klipsch 2.1 sounds fine with the Santa Cruz. Thought I'd give the X-Fi a whirl, but am somewhat disappointed. I expected more for the money.
