I'm still confused with this SoundStorm stuff.

I have an Asus A7N8X-Deluxe and am using the onboard sound. Now I understand that for optimal results, I should be using digital input speakers. But that'll come later for me... so right now I'm using my Cambridge Soundworks FPS1000. It's a 4.1 system using analog inputs.

I know that using analog jacks, I go through the Realtek codec. Does this severely limit my sound quality? As opposed to picking up an Audigy and using those analog outputs.

I'm interested about sound quality, not performance.
 
Yes the quality will be less, but you would do better to spend your money on a Home reciever or speker set that has a optical input. I plna on getting a cheap (sub $99 one) reciever and hooking it up like that. Better speaker choices and sizes. Let alone all the extras you get fromt eh reciever.

To be honest get the cheapst one that has a optical input and supports DTS and Dolby digital. How many watts do you REALLY need for a 5.1 computer speaker setup using digital sound?
