Sounds great to me!! First ripped MP3! 256kb/s...but how come ripping took 12 minutes?

I have successfully ripped and encoded my first CD! Puddle of Mudd: Come Clean. Ripped to MP3 at 256kb/s. Sounds as good as a CD to me! Only 88.2mb total size! This is really neat!

One question: How come it took me a little longer than 12 minutes to rip the CD? I have one of the best (allegedly) rippers in the business: Lite-On LTD-163. It only took about 4 minutes to convert from .wav to MP3...and that's impressive to me, but that initial phase sucks.

Can someone explain to me?

I am ripping some of my cd's using CDEX. It automatically converts them into MP3's, so there is only one stage. I'm doing it at 192kb/s, and it takes about a minute per 5 minute song. So aobut 12 min per cd here, depending on how long the album is. But that is including the converting phase. I have an Que ATAPI 16X10X40.

MichealD dear god why did you have to make 3 threads on ripping. Why couldnt you just edit/update one of them.
