lately i have been seeing a lot of peoples build using the audigy 2 zs sound card instead of onboard sound. why is this? i didn't think we needed a seperate sound card due to cpu utilization and a lot of m/b have digital out or 5 or 6 channel out. do most of you gamers use a 6 channels audio setup? am i the only one using onboard sound with just 5 year old altec lansing stereo speakers with a sub? just curious.

Better Sound Quality + EAX (Hearing the enemy come BEHIND you, hearing footsteps get louder and louder) + No CPU Utilization = Better gaming experience.

You probably won't be able to tell the difference with "cheap"speakers (not sure if yours are cheap ornot, but im just saying).

sound card sounds better. a sb live 5.1 that's $25 sounds better than most on-board sound out there.
