soundcard problems

I have recently downloaded the SP2 update from windows...now when I am running my Nascar 2003 game my sound is all messed up ...getting loud banging noise when let of the gas an sound goes up and down all on its own while in the game...I am running the SB Audigy Audio B400 sound and my windows is XP can any one help me out ?
