Soundcard Placement

I heard that there is a certain PCI slot I should use so the IRQ settings are not messed up. I have an ASUS K8V SE Deluxe and a Chaintech AV710 soundcard which I will receive in a couple of days.
Thanks,
Kishan

Yup. Generally, USB and any descrete chips on the mobo (if the NIC isn't part of the chipset, FI) generally take an IRQ from a PCI slot. Also check and see if it wants bus mastering. If so, one of those. As Davegod said, 2 and 3. Usually it's either 1 or 4 that take USB (4 in my case), and 5 or 6 are often not bus mastering slots.

I've heard sound cards should be installed into the last PCI slot (bottom) to reduce noise that could be caused by other devices e.g. video card.

& coincidentally (sortof) I'm currently running on a K8V Deluxe (non-SE) + Chaintech AV-710 & awaiting via FedEx a M-Audio Revolution 5.1 sound card by tommorow.

FWIW: In the BIOS all my IRQ's are set on auto and no problems with all the sound cards I've been playing with so far.

Here you go, the chart in the manual. As you can see, the first and last PCI slots share with eachother, the AGP slot and the onboard firewire controller. PCI slot 4 is the slot I would use for my "hungriest" card on that model.
