Soundcard Choices

Given the choice for a soundcard of the following, which would be preferred for a Game/HT situation, which would be hooked up to the Klipsch 5.1's/split to a stereo as well.

SBLive5.1
Audigy
GT XP

Personally, I'm leaning towards the Audigy right now, but the GT XP is quite nice, too. Any neato features that would make either one stand out? I think with the exception of the SBLive5.1 the others have those nifty boxes to hook up all sorts of things to, which could possibly be handy.

thanks :D

I was thinking of trying the Game Theater XP myself...

I currently have an SBLIVE and have no problems with it, i think it's a great value IMO at only 55 dollars Cdn for the value editon.

I have the Santa Cruz (basically same card as GTXP) and a friend of mine has the GTXP, we both love them. Run great a no problems with either of ours.

If you are gonna get the soundcard before October, then AVOID the GTXP.
(if you are running windows XP). Cuz there are NOOO drivers for it for windows XP.

Oh, and if I were you i'd get the Audigy over the GTXP, only if you dont need the stuff on the breakout box. The GTXP is only useful if you need all those audio inputs and outputs.

I wouldn't get anything by Creative because you can't trust them to make anything but $hit. Philips and Turtle Beach make much better cards for comparable prices.

Well now, I should have expected this ;)

Some people prefer one, other, or yet others. But, is there any method behind your preferences?

I'm leaning on the Audigy/GT XP for sheer convenience factor (those boxes are nice), but I haven't heard much about TB/Phillips. So I think I'll probably stick with the two that seem to offer the best possibilities, unless I can be told otherwise.

I'll go dig around for some Audigy info. GT XP was under consideration mainly because I've heard SBL's have issues with Athlon boards etc. Audigy may not have that problem? hm.

Choices Choices :D

I dunno what everyone has against these cards.. they work great and are very inexpensive (value model)

why do usay this? cause SBLIVE is crap compared to santa crruz? maybe its not as good but ITS ALSO 3 YEARS OLD.

name a better sound card that came out 3 years ago that cost $100 or LESS.

creative has always made the best sound card for its time... and of course the audigy is no exception. Problem i see wiht audigy is that it wont be the best sound card for 3 years. proibably only take 1 year or less for a better one ot come out.

Still its a GREAT SOUND CARD. and people that think its not are dumb..... maybe its not worth upgrading from a santa cruz but that doesnt mean its crap.

just my opinion of course
