soundcard cable to cdrom

ok here is a little idea i came up with, i pluged the audio cable that comes out of your cdrom drive right into my burner. i didnt go through the soundcard like normal. i have been using this for a while, but my question is, is this actually giving me a better connection and is there any down side besides not being able to listen to my cds in my burner or cdrom????

Nope this does not give you a better connection. It is doing NOTHING for you right now. That cable is ONLY for sending a CD-Audio signal directly to the sound card without involving the motherboard at all. It uses this cable instead of the IDE cable. A lot of software players (WMP 7) will play your CDs automatically without that cable because of a setting in the software.
