I'm an old folkie and have an old Tascam 4 track analog cassette recorder, but I understand it is possible to record directly onto the harddrive, using software such as Cakewalk. Anyway, I'm a newbie-- not a pro -- just would like to record my 3 chord songs-- simple guitar and vocal... nothing dramatic.. a hobby, simply. Once i get the songs on the hard drive, then i can place onto cd-burner, and Nashville, here i come, right?
My questions are:
1) soundcard recommendation?
2) has anyone done this? recording onto hard drive-- guitar/vocal/mixing/4 tracks/etc.? any advice?
from what i understand, i also need a mixer of some kind, but i'm kinda clueless here.
if this is too off-the-wall question, no problem....i'm just not heavy into games, but would like to get more use out of my computer than just web surfing, word processing, and email.
