hi,
ive owned this soundblaster Z for some months now but after i came back from a lan party the mic input kept acting up.
it does not record my voice but shows 50% peek level input which sounds like terrible noise.
almost like a feedback loop that keeps enhancing its own level.
to get the mic input working again i have to switch the card into another pcie slot, reboot, run the installer again, repair driver and reboot.
this solution last for exactly one time, as soon as i turn the pc off or reboot the mic input is back to very annoying noises.
the soundoutput works flawlessly the whole time, just the mic input kills itself somehow.
my pc:
gtx1060
soundblaster z
i5 8600
no extra cards installed
no usb devices besides keyboard and mouse
i did not install a antivirus software or some other malware thing before, in between or after the lan.
software for testing:
teamspeak 3
voice recorder (win10)
what i tried:
removing the soundblaster z driver with the soundblaster software without switching the card into another slot
/with reboot) -> problem persists
buying a used soundblaster z card, same problem. after the driver is isntalled and the system rebooted once, it works. later on it just doesnt.
removing some updates that came in around the day of the lan via the windows upate center
-> problem persists.
im now back to "install all updates, no matter how useless"
googling a lot for similar problems -> problem persists + i dont believe what people tried most of the time.
installing both soundblaster cards at the same time to confuse the problem.
looks like windows cant handle two cards of the same type at the same time.
how do you troubleshoot something like this?
are sound settings saved in the registry ?
