I'm waiting for staples to get the x-gamer 5.1 so that I can get all the games with it. Hopefully they will have it soon! Thanks for the deal.

Thanks dude, I have been waiting for the X-Gamer (non 5.1) to be coming available in my area again and it was. I got it for 53.98 out the door. Needed this because I ran into a set of digital only speakers and my current sound card didn't have the digital out.

I bought my Gamer 5.1 at Staples B&M a week ago. All the stores should have it or get it soon.

A good sound card? personally I have a X-gamer(non 5.1) and I love it, but I also have the FPS2000 from Cambridge SoundWorks(A subsid of Creative) so the speakers were meant for the soundcard. However, I heard Phillips is suppose to have an awesome sound card. Check out

http://gamecenter.com/Hardware/Audio/Pae/?st.gc.ha.c

It's a review for the sound card, it MSRPs for $100, I haven't pricewatched it or anything since I'm not looking to upgrade my sound card anytime soon.

Probegt, are you saying that the non-5.1 x-gamer has digital out? I need a soundcard with external digital out to run to my Home Theater sytem. PC/HT in same room, no sense hurting my ears with cheap PC speakers when I already have a $1500+ setup available.

On topic:
If Staples follows their policy when checking access Micro's price for price matching, they will look to the closest thing to next day air delivery to add in before matching. The $8+ amount used is for ground. AccessMicro charges $12 for second day air. Add that to the 67.50 and you only save pennies for the time online with Staples CSR.

I decided instead to build a $100 order and using the 30 off $100 coupon at techbargains.com by adding in some supplies I need anyway.

A nice item to use to help build up a staples free delivery supplies basket is their black or assorted colors Sharpie permanent ink pens for $3.85. What's so nice about them? Well, they are primo for marking those CD-R's we're burning, among other things. Oh, and they also have a $4.50 rebate, check it out here!!!

I don't know if they will really rebate more than the sales price - but I bought two 5 packs, one assorted colors and one black, so we'll see. One per name or address, but you can game that if you really want to, of course.

You'll get mixed opinions from people as to whether or not it's wise to use any old permanent marker to write on the surface of a CD-R. I play it safe and started buying the TDK CD Mark pens. They're not exactly cheap, but what the heck, I'm a sucker...

Off topic:

Yooo Axnff:
I'm putting together a minitower 1ghz++ Athlon system as soon as either 133mhz Sdram, or 133DDR FSB mobos become available.

Am about to order the X-gamer from staples for this system.

My list also includes your Cambridge FPS2000 speaker system. It's listed on pricewatch for about $129 from OK places. Seems like a sweet system and deal to me. I get the impression from reviews that usually don't directly address this question, that these 1999 speakers are really better than both the POS Cambridge DTT2200 system, but also the DTT2500. (While the pricey and rather big DTT3500 has more juice and might be quite a bit better, if they've really gotten the buzz out of the amp which Anand's first review complained about.)

Anyway, I don't believe in watching DVD's on my desktop computer. That is what my Apex DVD player (multiregion, defeats copy protection, plays mp3's over my surround sound stero system) and big TV are for. So I consider the middle speaker a placement pain in the butt. The top of my monitor is for hold bits of paper and other essentials - not to be cluttered by a useless center speaker when the blooming two front speakers are only a few feet apart to begin with. ;)

So I think a 4.1 speaker system makes plenty of sense. How do you like your FPS2000?

All the current Live cards including most of the latest versions of the Live Value have Digital out, via a minijack... which requires a minijack to coaxial adapter available at best buy for $1.99

Dougjnn, I believe you want gariig.

Nitzylpick, OD B&M or online? Thier web site doesn't show any SB Live cards. If you're wires aren't crossed, that's a hell of a deal. More info, Please!

Garrig --

what do you think of your FPS2000 speaker system from Cambridge. See my post above mistakenly addressed to Axnff.

I'm looking to buy same in near future. Good move these days?
